Student Registration
Welcome to Skokie School District 68!
As a public school system, we welcome all students who live within our district's boundaries and meet state age and health requirements. For specific enrollment information, please email us at registrar@skokie68.org.

All families who reside withing Skokie 68’s boundaries can enroll their students in preschool through 8th grade.
Preschool at The Early Childhood Center:
District 68 operates a tuition-based early childhood program for three- and four-year-old children who are indistrict residents. Morning and afternoon sessions are available.
Kindergarten – 8th grade:
Kindergarten students must be five years old on or before September 1 of each school year.
A child entering first grade must be six years of age on or before September 1 of that school term. Based upon an assessment of a child’s readiness to attend school, the District may permit them to attend school prior to these dates. A child will also be allowed to attend first grade based upon an assessment of the child’s readines if they attended a non-public preschool, continued their education at that school through kindergarten, was taught kindergarten by an appropriately licensed teacher, and will be six years old on or before December 31.

New Students (Early Childhood - 8th Grade)

Returning Students
Starting in 2025-2026, all families of returning students are required to annually verify their information by logging into and updating their Infinite Campus Parent Portal. The purpose of an annual update is to ensure we have accurate parent and emergency contact information, information on student medical conditions, annual student permissions, and other critical elements that help keep our students safe.
Preschool Registration
District 68 operates a tuition-based early childhood program for three- and four-year-old district residents. Morning and afternoon sessions are available, and a sliding scale is offered on tuition as needed. The Early Childhood Center is located at 9300 Kenton Avenue in the south end of the Old Orchard Junior High School building. Parents must provide transportation to and from school. A yearly online registration application must be completed to be considered for the preschool enrollment.
In addition to the tuition-based program, the Early Childhood Center is also a designated Preschool for All (PFA) grant site, offering high-quality, developmentally appropriate programming for eligible children at no cost to families.
The Early Childhood Center also provides special education and related services to eligible students with disabilities from ages 3-5. Students eligible for special transportation as determined by their IEP team can receive transportation to and from school.

Individuals requesting in-person registration assistance should anticipate a registration process that may require approximately 30 to 60 minutes. It is essential that all required documentation be submitted at the Educational Service Center to complete the registration.

District 68 offers accelerated placement for students, as called for in The Accelerated Placement Act. Students may be identified and advanced through early admission to kindergarten or first grade, or through single subject or grade level advancement. Accelerated placement is the placement of a student at the instructional level that best matches the student’s needs by allowing access to a curriculum that is usually reserved for children who are older or in higher grades than the student.

What do I do if I do not have any residency documents in my name and we live with family/friends?
The parent/guardian must complete the online registration. The three required proof of residency documents in the homeowner/renter’s name must be uploaded into the online registration along with the signed and notarized Affidavit of Residency Form.
Please note that all families are subject to residency verifications.
Are any fees owed at the time of registration?
New and Returning Families completing the online registration before the first day of school may owe some fees:
- If you live in a paid bus zone for the school your child is attending, the Transportation Deposit fee of $60 is required and must be paid before the first day of school in order for our child’s name to be added to the bus route.
New Families registering after the first day of school:
- Any applicable fees must be paid at the time of registration or a signed payment plan must established.
I am enrolling a student with an IEP and/or 504 Plan. Who should I contact?
If your student has an active IEP and/or 504 Plan, please have a digital copy of the most current plan available to upload into the online registration application. If you have additional questions, please contact the Student Services Department at 847-677-4560.
Where do I submit my child’s required health forms?
Health forms, Eye exam forms, Dental exam forms, and/or Medical/Religious immunization exemption forms should be submitted to your child’s school office.
Does Skokie School District 68 have a Before/After School Childcare program?
Before and after school care is offered at each of our elementary schools for grades K-5 and is run by the Skokie Park District SPACE program.
About the Program:
Designed to serve the needs of working parents in the Skokie community, SPACE programs are held in Skokie school facilities and offer before- and after-school recreational programs. Care is available during the school year, Monday through Friday, mornings starting at 7 a.m.–the start of school, and afternoons from school end–6 p.m. (times vary based on school district). Fees include an afternoon snack and recreational and educational activities in a safe and nurturing environment. Skokie Park District staff oversee a wide variety of activities including homework help, active games, arts & crafts, outdoor play and more. Our goal is to promote social interaction, independence, self-esteem, creativity, and problem-solving skills among all children. The Skokie Park District Staff is committed to building a cooperative and supportive relationship with each family.
