Principal's Message

Happy Friday,  Highland Families:
We had an awesome first week of school! It has been wonderful to see our Hawks smiling, learning their classroom routines, getting to know one another, and showing so much excitement about learning. We are so proud of how well they have settled into the school year! 
We also want to take a moment to thank our families for your patience, support, and cooperation during arrival and dismissal. 
We know the beginning of the school day can sometimes feel busy, and we truly appreciate everyone following our procedures, being patient, and helping us make these transitions safe, smooth, and positive for all of our students. Your partnership makes a big difference!

School Happenings

Next week, our 1st-5th grade students will participate in i-Ready Inform testing. i-Ready Inform is an assessment that gives us valuable information about what students know and are ready to learn in areas such as reading and/or mathematics. 
  •  Tuesday, September 1st, and Wednesday, September 2, are for reading 
  • Thursday, September 3rd, and Friday, September 4th, are for math. 
This assessment is not a grade; instead, it is one of the tools we use to better understand each student’s strengths and areas where they may need additional support or enrichment. The results help us plan instruction, set goals, and provide learning experiences that meet our students’ individual needs.
To help your child feel prepared and do their best, please encourage them to get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, arrive at school on time, and come with a positive attitude and a “I can do it!” mindset. Remind them that the most important thing is to simply try their best. We are excited to cheer them on and support them throughout the testing process!
